The RUT deduction — how
it works
When you hire us for household services, you may be entitled to the RUT deduction. This means you only pay part of the labour cost — we apply for the rest from Skatteverket on your behalf.
You receive up to 50% off the labour cost directly on your invoice. Simple, automatic, and hassle-free.
How much can you get?
The maximum amount is SEK 75,000 per person per year. RUT and ROT share the same pool, meaning the combined deduction for both cannot exceed SEK 75,000 per person.
The deduction applies only to the labour cost. It does not apply to:
- Materials
- Travel costs
- Invoice fees
Who is entitled to the RUT deduction?
To be entitled to the RUT deduction, you need to:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Pay tax in Sweden
- Pay for the service yourself — be the invoice recipient or the person paying
- Have remaining deduction allowance

Property requirements
The service must be carried out at your permanent residence, holiday home, or rented home. You must be registered (folkbokförd) at the address where the service is performed.
You can also claim a deduction for work carried out at your parents' home — if you are the one paying.
Please note that parents cannot claim a deduction for work performed at their children's home.

The RUT deduction depends on how much tax you pay. If you have a low income, the deduction may be limited. More information about the RUT deduction rules is available at https://www.skatteverket.se/privat/fastigheterochbostad/husarbete/rutarbete
It is always the customer's responsibility to ensure that the conditions for the RUT deduction are met.
If Skatteverket denies payment of the tax reduction — in full or in part — or if Freska becomes liable to repay any paid amount, Freska reserves the right to subsequently claim the corresponding amount from the customer.
